Greetings in Christ,
My name is Michael. Since 2014 I have been emailing out weekly notes on the Bible with commentary on how the passage applies to us today. I invite you to join us in our study of the prophet Isaiah as we explore a new format. We pick up in the middle of the 21st chapter. In this post we will look at the burden of Dumah. For context, you can see notes from the first part of Isaiah 21 that were sent last week by email under ‘older posts’.
Father give us understanding as we read thy word, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
Isaiah 21:11-12
11 The burden of Dumah [lit Silence]. He calleth to me out of Seir, [lit Hairy] Watchman, what of the night? Watchman, what of the night?
12 The watchman said, The morning cometh, and also the night: if ye will enquire, enquire ye: return, come.
Traditionally this section of Scripture is thought to be the burden of Edom. According the Bible, Seir is where Esau and his descendants settled and Esau is Edom (Gen 36:8). Dumah, on the other hand, was a tribe associated with Ishmael, not Esau. (Gen 25:14)
According to the Westminster Dictionary of the Bible, Dumah is modern-day Al-Jauf, the most northwestern district in Saudi Arabia. In fact, there is even a town in Al-Juaf called ‘Dumah Al Jandal’. The Westminster Dictionary of the Bible also says Dumah is “a symbolic designation of Edom.” Edom was located in what today would be called the southern parts of Israel and Jordan. Out of Edom comes a call to the watchman asking about the night. I believe Isaiah is once more looking to the future and he sees the night of the tribulation period. The watchman says the morning is coming, but the night comes first. In the Bible, the day begins with the night. (And the evening and the morning were the first day. Gen 1:5b) The two obscure verses above from Isaiah may not seem all that consequential to most of us who read them today, but consider this: Every single one of Isaiah’s eleven burdens contains an end times message. The coming night of the tribulation period will be a worldwide judgment on humanity. Only those who put their trust in Christ will be able to escape. Hence Isaiah’s exhortation to return, come. If you are backslidden, return. If you have never received Christ, come.
Consider this also: We live in a day of fake everything; fake food, fake money, fake news, and fake science. The list goes on and on. Fake paradigms. We have been conditioned to look at world events through a political lens or a left-right paradigm, but what we are witnessing on the evening news is in fact a spiritual battle. Consider the following statistics:
The skyrocketing autism rates among children (now 1 in 40) and increasing chronic illness rates (now between 15% and 18%) among children indicate something is seriously wrong. We are losing our most precious resource, our children. Yet we have more vaccines today than ever. If vaccines are so safe and effective then why are autism rates higher than ever and why are our kids sicker than ever? We will never understand the answers to these questions unless we look at the problem from a spiritual perspective.
According to the CDC’s own website, certain vaccines contain fetal tissue. If that is not witchcraft then I do not know what is. The Greek word translated as witchcraft in the Bible is pharmakeia. In Latin it would be pharmacia, from whence we get our English word pharmacy. Could this possibly help explain why the governor of Virginia is supporting a bill to allow not only partial-birth abortion but now post-birth abortion as well? The abortion industry reaps huge profits from the organs and tissues harvested from aborted babies. In spiritual terms each abortion is a sacrifice to Molech. Then we are unknowingly injected with processed (cloned) remains of sacrificed infants through certain vaccines that contain MRC-5 or HEK 293. The people who champion these practices are waging an all-out assault on us through these and many other ways. We are under attack. I know being confronted with this information is unsettling but the truth is most people are unsettled already. That is the reason we have an opioid epidemic. People cannot cope. They are seeking a means of relief but drugs are not the answer. If we will follow Isaiah’s exhortation and return, Jesus promises to give us peace:
Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.
John 14:27
Jesus spoke these words to his disciples in an upper room as part of his final instructions to them. He also said Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you. (Jn 15:14) In order to have the peace Jesus promises, we need to be obedient. For Jesus, that meant obeying his Father and going to the cross. Jesus knew He was facing crucifixion in only a few short hours, yet He was talking to his disciples about peace, and love, and joy. For us, obedience means telling the truth about the evil we are facing, whether it be the truth about vaccines or any other issue. Jesus commands us to pick up our crosses just as He did. (Mk 8:34 et al) Perhaps you are worried that if you refuse the vaccines for yourself or your children you will lose some of your status in society. Sometimes that is the cost of following Jesus. The disciples were disenfranchised from Israel (Jn 16:2). Israel was a figurative vine that every Jew was connected to. Jesus told them not to worry though, because He is the true vine. (Jn 15:1) If we obey Him and abide in Him and continue in his word, we have nothing to fear. He calls us friends. He gives us peace that no man can take away. He is preparing mansions for us in heaven and He promises to come back for us. If you have had an abortion, if you have performed an abortion—whatever you have done—that is the reason Jesus died and rose again, so you can be forgiven. Don’t let his sacrifice for you be in vain. Receive Him and his free gift of forgiveness. He will forgive you; he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. His mercy endureth for ever.
In closing, don’t let yourself be fooled by the pro-vaccine propaganda they keep cramming down our throats. Arm yourself with knowledge. Chapter IV of Dragon Slayer Jesus Christ contains information about vaccines. If you are more of a movie person watch Vaxxed, or check out the Vaxxed Channel on Brighteon. Examine all sides of the debate before making up your mind. Solomon said He that answereth a matter before he heareth it, it is folly and shame unto him. (Pr 18:13)
Father, it is plain to see there is a spiritual war taking place. There are multitudes in the valley of decision. Help us to be salt and light. Help us to trust You, to abide in You, and to not be conformed to this world. Give us the courage to stand for the truth, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
