John 9:17-38 – Believing Is Seeing

Dear Friends,

When we left off last week, the blind man that Jesus turned into a seeing man was being questioned by the Pharisees. Give us sight too, Father. Bind the enemy and purify our hearts, that we may see You. Make us to understand your Scriptures with believing hearts, in Jesus’ name. Amen.

John 9:17-38
17 They say unto the blind man again, What sayest thou of him, that he hath opened thine eyes? He said, He is a prophet [cf Ch 1:21; 4:19].
18 But the Jews did not believe concerning him, that he had been blind, and received his sight, until they called the parents of him that had received his sight.
19 And they asked them, saying, Is this your son, who ye say was born blind? how then doth he now see?
20 His parents answered them and said, We know that this is our son, and that he was born blind:
21 But by what means he now seeth, we know not; or who hath opened his eyes, we know not: he is of age; ask him: he shall speak for himself.
22 These words spake his parents, because they feared the Jews: for the Jews had agreed already, that if any man did confess that he was Christ, he should be put out of the synagogue.

Cancel culture is nothing new. These days, no matter how impeccable your credentials (like being a former New York Times science reporter), citing inconvenient facts about COVID can get you canceled on social media. When a society rejects Jesus, this is what you get. If you are unfortunate enough to have first-hand knowledge of the advancing new world order coup, like four members of the Capitol Police who were on duty on January 6, you may be canceled entirely. As in permanently.

It was the Christian ethos that made America free. Not only was the abolitionist movement a Christian movement, but so was the Civil Rights Movement. Churches got involved behind the leadership of Reverend King and their actions led to things like the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the Voting Rights Act of 1965, the Civil Rights Act of 1968, the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, the Age Discrimination Act of 1975, the Pregnancy Discrimination Act of 1978, the Civil Rights Restoration Act of 1987, the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990, the Civil Rights Act of 1991, and the No-FEAR Act, just to name a few. After centuries of blood, sweat, and tears, striving to make a society that is free and equal for all, we are now regressing back to where we started. The Pharisees of our day act in much the same way that the Pharisees of old did.

While it is true that similar legislation exists in some countries that were not shaped by the Christian ethos of the West, I can tell you from experience after living in some of those places, those laws are nothing but window dressing and are not followed in any significant way. Regardless of where you want to look at, the main ones targeted when things get ugly are usually the Christians.

23 Therefore said his parents, He is of age; ask him.
24 Then again called they the man that was blind, and said unto him, Give God the praise: we know that this man is a sinner.
25 He answered and said, Whether he be a sinner or no, I know not: one thing I know, that, whereas I was blind, now I see.
26 Then said they to him again, What did he to thee? how opened he thine eyes?
27 He answered them, I have told you already, and ye did not hear: wherefore would ye hear it again? will ye also be his disciples?
28 Then they reviled him, and said, Thou art his disciple; but we are Moses’ disciples.
29 We know that God spake unto Moses: as for this fellow, we know not from whence he is.
30 The man answered and said unto them, Why herein is a marvellous thing, that ye know not from whence he is, and yet he hath opened mine eyes.
31 Now we know that God heareth not sinners: but if any man be a worshipper of God, and doeth his will, him he heareth.
32 Since the world began was it not heard that any man opened the eyes of one that was born blind.
33 If this man were not of God, he could do nothing.

The now-seeing man’s argument is solid and he backs it up with Scripture (Ps 66:18). Yet the Pharisees feel they are beyond rebuke. Maybe Jesus had them in mind when He said Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother’s eye.

34 They answered and said unto him, Thou wast altogether born in sins, and dost thou teach us? And they cast him out.

They accuse him of being altogether born in sins, but Jesus already cleared up this faulty doctrine (v 3). It was not his fault he was born blind. Yet because he aligned himself with Jesus they canceled him. Being cast out of the temple meant nobody was to do business with him. He was disenfranchised.

35 Jesus heard that they had cast him out; and when he had found him, he said unto him, Dost thou believe on the Son of God?
36 He answered and said, Who is he, Lord, that I might believe on him?
37 And Jesus said unto him, Thou hast both seen him, and it is he that talketh with thee.

This was the first time he saw Jesus; before he only heard his voice and knew his name. Now, meeting Jesus face to face, he believes what Jesus tells him, that He is the Son of God.

38 And he said, Lord, I believe. And he worshipped him.
John 9:17-38

In Chapter 7, Jesus declared Himself to be the I am. Now, on the same day, He accepts worship. The apostles never accepted worship, nor do angels (Rev 19:10; cf Col 2:18), but Jesus does because Jesus is God (John 1:1 et al).

There is a Christian principle which I have found to be true: Whenever you have a mountaintop experience, Satan is always waiting around the corner to pounce on you and steal your joy. Consider the man in our story. He just experienced one of the greatest miracles in the history of the world. But no sooner did he receive his sight than the religious leaders pounced on him, mocked and ridiculed him, and barred him from the temple. But then there was Jesus, ready to help. Despite the cruel treatment from the Pharisees, when Jesus found him and gave him his word, things got even better than before. Not only was he seeing with his eyes, now he was seeing with his heart. He was born again. He believed Jesus was  the Son of God and he worshipped Him. He probably felt a lot better too, which is one of the primary reasons I read the Bible. It’s good for your mental health. Whenever I find myself in a distressing or painful situation, I find that a little bit of meditation in the word will always pull me out of the mire.

…..Heaviness in the heart of man maketh it stoop: but a good word maketh it glad.
Proverbs 12:25

Prophecy Update: The prophet Isaiah wrote, Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; in our day and age, Isaiah’s prophecy is clearly coming to pass. The Democrat Party wins hearts and minds as the ‘good guys’ while their biggest supporters and donors keep revealing themselves as the sick and twisted perverts that they are (Harvey Weinstein, Ed Buck, Howard Rubin, the Podesta bros, etc). These revelations about the character of our business and political leaders are markers that show we are approaching the end.

Another marker would be the epic proportions whereby the US government is pumping money into the economy. This is creating an enormous bubble that will prepare the way for the rider on the black horse in Revelation 6.

Coronavirus Update: This story about Sky News being canceled from YouTube got my attention because it seems to be a marker for the next level of the cancel culture. There was once a time when the mainstream media told the truth but those days are over. The few remaining outlets that tell the truth are being dealt with. As I said in my notes on Isaiah 5:20, Alex Jones was only the beginning and mainstream media would eventually follow. The new world order is methodically and incrementally removing our basic civil liberties and human rights. Gradually reducing our freedom while making people dependent on subsidies is similar to a wild boar trap:

Week 1: Put food out for the boar.
Week 2: Place wall #1 next to the food.
Week 3: Place wall #2 next to the food.
Week 4: Place wall #3 next to the food; the boar is now surrounded on three sides when he comes to eat.
Week 5: Place wall #4 using a tripwire that springs the trap and drops the wall.

With this in mind, here is everything you need to know about the COVID trap in five bullet points:

• The CDC has admitted that the PCR test never really tested for SARS-CoV-2 in the first place. It tests for the seasonal flu, but still gives a false positive even for that because they set the cycle threshold too high.

• In December, I cited an article with a link to an HHS database to show how the stories about hospitals being ‘overwhelmed’ were pure deception according to their own data. Health and Human Services has since blocked the website from the general public, but according to reports (which I have confirmed with a friend who is an RN) hospitals really are starting to fill up now with people who cannot breathe, not because of the ‘variants’, but because of the shots.(*) (Speaking of blocked websites, the military intelligence website, deagel.com, has removed their ominous prediction that the population of the US will drop to 54 million by 2025. The URL now redirects to the main page.)

• Taking the mRNA vaccine can give you oozing boils (Rev 16:2), if not death.

• According to an Emory study, natural immunity is the gold standard.

Complying with their mandates is falling into the same trap as the wild boar. (For a sneak preview see this report out of Pakistan.) The final tripwire to capture your soul will be the mark of the beast.

Magog Update: Biden has more or less conceded to Russia (Magog), allowing them to proceed with the Nord Stream II pipeline to Germany (Gomer). Now that there is no longer any resistance, it is only a matter of time before the Magog alliance goes after Israel’s natural gas resources (Ez 38:12). Meanwhile, tensions between Israel and players on the Magog side continue to rise. I believe the Magog invasion will take place after the rapture of the church (some prophecy teachers say before), but what about the prophecy in Revelation 20? Does it not show that the Magog invasion takes place at the end of the millennium? No. Just as there are two different raptures, one at the beginning of the tribulation period for the church, and one at the end of the tribulation period for tribulation saints, there are two different Magog invasions. Consider:

Ezekiel 38; 39                                                                    Revelation 20

God gathers Magog (Ez 38:4, 16)                                      Satan gathers Magog (Rev 20:7)
Attack comes from the north (Ez 38:15)                             Attack comes from breadth of the earth (Rev 20:9)
Russia, regional Arab alliance (Ez 38:2, 5f)                        Four quarters of the earth, plus Russia (Rev 20:8f)
For a witness to the heathen (Ez 38:16)                             For a final judgment (Rev 20:9)
Every man’s sword against his brother (Ez 38:21)             Fire from God devours them (Rev 20:9)
Pestilence, hailstones, fire and brimstone (Ez 38:22)
A witness to correct Israel (Ez 39:7)

7 years follow (Ez 39:9)                                                      End of 1000 years. Millennium is over.
Satan judged for eternity (Rev 20:10)
Great white throne for unbelievers (Rev 20:11)

Father, I know and believe that You will be sending your Son back soon to fetch us home to meet You. Please help us to prepare our hearts. Please account us worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before your Son. We ask this in Jesus’ name. Amen

(*) Update 8/6/21: But hospitals are not busy in places like Florida that have resisted the mandates.
