Isaiah 40 – Postscript

Dear Friends,

It occurred to me after I posted this week’s notes that my metaphor was not theologically correct. We all stand guilty before the Judge. That much is true. However, our case cannot be “dismissed.” Rather, when we receive the free gift of everlasting life through faith alone we are still found guilty and sentenced accordingly. However, our debt is paid in full by Christ. He bore the punishment for our sins. He died in our place. This was the most beautiful and selfless act in the history of the world. It is our part to receive the free gift and reciprocate with our love and appreciation accordingly. Thank You Father, for your unspeakable gift. We cannot repay You. All we have to offer is our love and everlasting adoration, in Jesus’ name. Amen.

16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
John 3:16
